Switching from Medicare Advantage to Medicare Supplement
In the Medigap Monday video, Robert Bache answers your question:
“When can I change from a Medicare Advantage to Medicare Supplement?”
Watch the video and discover when you can switch from Medicare Advantage to Medicare Supplement.
One Medigap Enrollment Period
You can change from Medicare Advantage to Medigap Plan only during Medicare Open Enrollment. This Annual Election Period (AEP) starts October 15 and ends December 7. However, you can disenroll from Medicare Advantage Plan and return to Original Medicare during Medicare Advantage (MA) Open Enrollment. Furthermore, you can then enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan. This MA Open Enrollment period occurs every year between January 1 and March 31.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment
Senior Healthcare Direct helps you find the right Medicare Advantage Plan during MA Open Enrollment. We can help you find an Advantage Plan that includes your doctors and medications. Thus, you can change from one Advantage Plan to a different Advantage Plan (Track 1).
Alternatively, you can switch from an Advantage Plan to Original Medicare (Track 2). If you choose Track 2, you have the option of adding a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period
During the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment period between January 1 and March 31, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or disenroll from Medicare Advantage. Thus, Robert Bach calls the period Medicare Advantage Disenrollment in his 2020 video. Please read the story about George and why he switched back to Original Medicare and added Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
